The new Norton Shores Fire Station #3 was designed to recognize the character of the surrounding community and establish an architectural model for future neighborhood development.  It is intended to be a "center of village" building with an interesting facade, walkways, and a firefighters' memorial.  Although the structure is completely modern, it was designed with a few traditional elements, including large sheltering roofs with support brackets and a sturdy timber-frame entrance canopy.
